Born the son of an ASML engineer on one side and an artist and therapist on the other, I think I have always had both a tech-minded and a more creative side to me. My parents instilled me with curiosity and creativity from an early age on.
I've always read and drawn a lot. I dreamt of becoming a comic book artist and could often be found with a pencil in my hand. Since then I haven’t stopped creating. -
I maintained and cultivated my passion for drawing. Since 2014 I've been involved in graffiti and mural projects. As I progressed I started taking on commissions. I later started running workshops as well. I have worked on many different projects and painted walls in bedrooms, bars and schools as well as for theatre. I view my most successful works as those that connect and bring groups of people together.

In high school (De Nieuwste School, Tilburg) I grew more interested in and stimulated by science, research and technology. Due to DNS's innovative education concept, learning was very much self-directed and I was free to learn based on my own interests. This allowed me to graduate in art as an extra subject, and infuse creativity into the otherwise science-oriented curriculum. A good example of this is my graduation project.

I have always travelled a lot. With family, friends or alone. Spending time in unfamiliar environments and cultures is always a humbling and inspiring opportunity to learn new things. I learned a lot abroad by organizing my trips and helping and working for others and adapting to new physical and social environments. This is why I chose to do a gap year between high school and university and an exchange semester.

After high school, I had a hard time choosing between studying at an art college or university. I considered studying art or illustration but found the ambiance on many art colleges too spiritual and vain. I also considered biology because I have a great interest in nature, but in the end I chose to study Industrial Design in the hope that it would strike a balance; stimulating artisticity and creativity as well as critical thinking, technology and research. I mainly wanted to learn more about prototyping, building, technology and user experience design.
